Description

ALANDIA Verte Édition Barrique is a barrel-aged Absinthe, made after the original ALANDIA Verte recipe but further aged in French oak white wine barrels from the Loire region. This gives this Absinthe a very smooth and creamy taste, with further notes of vanilla and toffee. The herbal composition of the base recipe is primarily focused on Absinthes iconic ingredient: Wormwood, also known as “La Grande Absinthe”. The plants are cultivated on the fertile fields of the distillery, which guarantees superior quality. Overall, this Absinthe is a sensory experience.

Absinthe ALANDIA Verte: Barrel Aged

All process for the production of ALANDIA Verte Edition Barrique orient at 19th century traditions. Like in the old days, the wormwood harvest is done by hand and the sprigs dry for several months in a wooden hut, the so called the “séchoir”. True to the original is as well the recipe. It consists of a decent portion of wormwood (artemisia absinthium), which is carefully blended with several other traditional herbs, including green anise and fennel plus the artemisia species genepi. For the making of the final spirit, copper stills are used for distillation. After distillation, the spirit aged for 15 months in French oak white wine barrels from the Loire region in the cellar of the distillery.

How to drink barrel-aged Absinthe:

There are numerous ways to enjoy ALANDIA Verte Édition Barrique: (1.) Neat as a classic after dinner digestifs like a whiskey or brandy. (2.) Mixed with a little iced water or ice. This method releases more aromas and flavors. (3.) Or prepared the traditional way with one sugar cube and iced water. The addition of water will make the Absinthe louche and the sweetness of the sugar pleasantly enriches the flavor profile.

spicy and excellent Review by Jack

It starts out with a spicy aroma and a thick fast forming louche.. There are nice hints of cinnamon, vanilla, and toffee. There is a pleasant slight woodiness to it from the barrel, but it's not overpowering. At a 4:1 ratio with no sugar it's perfect. This is my favorite exclusive-to-Alandia absinthe that they've come up with yet.. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.. (Posted on 9/29/2022)
barrel age Review by Grooes

I love whiskey and therefore was quite interested in this barrel age absinthe. The taste is complex, I mean to recognize cinnamon like jack does. In contrast to a normal verte, it is smoother. I drank it with just a little water. I liked that best. You still have the fresh taste of absinthe with this absinthe but with an extra of the barrel. I really like it! (Posted on 9/29/2022)
Smooth! Review by Much-E

My second bottle of the "regular" Alandia Verte is gone soon and I like it a lot, so I didn't hesitate to get a bottle of the Verte Barrique. This one is even smoother than the regular, a bit more complex and with a nice touch of the barrel age taste. Both the regular and Barrique version are recommended! (Posted on 9/29/2022)
