Description

With this Absinthe Tasting set you will get three different Absinthes, that fascinate each with authenticity and great taste.

Absinthe Verte:

Our premium Absinthe ALANDIA Verte is a traditional green Absinthe which is distilled in Fougerolles, France, at a family-owned distillery dating back to 1859. The recipe is primarily focused on Absinthes iconic ingredient: Wormwood, also known as “La Grande Absinthe”. The plants are cultivated on the fertile fields of the distillery, which guarantees superior quality. Additionally, all processes orient at 19th century traditions: Like in the old days, the harvest is done by hand and the wormwood sprigs dry for several months in a wooden hut, the so called the “séchoir”.

True to the original is as well the production process. The recipe consists of a decent portion of wormwood (artemisia absinthium), which is carefully blended with several other traditional herbs, including green anise and fennel plus the artemisia species genepi. For the making of the final spirit, copper stills are used for distillation. After distillation the initially crystal-clear spirit is macerated with selected coloring herbs. They give ALANDIA Verte its natural green color. As direct sunlight would harm ALANDIA Verte’s natural green color, each bottle is wrapped in paper. Please store the bottle after opening in a dark place.

We recommend ALANDIA Verte to first-timers and connoisseurs alike. Beginners will most likely appreciate the fresh taste of this Absinthe, not overpowering on fennel therefore reducing the "licorice" taste. The latter can detect the individual components of the Absinthe: Fresh notes of green anise, balanced out with slightly grassy tones of genepi finishing in a complex and floral taste of wormwood.

Absinthe Barrique:

The Absinthe Set includes as well the barrel-aged edition of ALANDIA Verte: Édition Barrique. It is made after the original ALANDIA Verte recipe but further aged in French oak white wine barrels from the Loire region. This gives this Absinthe a very smooth taste with further notes of vanilla and toffee. There are numerous ways to enjoy ALANDIA Verte Édition Barrique: (1.) Neat as a classic after dinner digestif like a whisky or brandy. (2.) Mixed with a little iced water or ice. This method releases more aromas and flavors. (3.) Or prepared the traditional way with one sugar cube and iced water. The addition of water will make the Absinthe louche and the sweetness of the sugar pleasantly enriches the flavor profile.

Absinthe Rosé:

The third bottle in the set is ALANDIA Rosé. Rosé Absinthe already existed in France during the Belle Époque in the 19th century. Based on this historical reference, Absinthe ALANDIA Rosé was created. As in those days, the Absinthe gets its natural color from hibiscus flowers. In addition to coloring, they round out the fresh taste of the Absinthe in a floral-fruity direction. You can taste fresh strawberry notes in the finish, which, together with the sweet notes of anise, remind one a bit of cotton candy. Very tasty! The alcohol content is 60%, slightly lower than the usual 68%, which is also in line with the historical original and emphasizes the smoother character of the Absinthe. Served with ice-cold water and a sugar cube, ALANDIA Rosé is seductively smooth and refreshing to the taste. We recommend ALANDIA Rosé to beginners and connoisseurs alike.

As mentioned above, ALANDIA Rosé owes its color to the hibiscus flower. This is a vegetable dye that fades when exposed to UV rays. That's why we wrap each bottle in paper to protect the contents from sunlight. It is best to always store the Absinthe in a dark place so that it keeps its natural color for as long as possible. However, it is inevitable that the initial pink color will change over time to a golden pink (you can see this final color in our product photo). It is important to know that this is a completely natural process. It has no negative influence on the taste of the Absinthe. On the contrary, the storage makes the Absinthe even softer and more balanced in taste, it matures like a good wine.

Overall, if you are looking for quality and want a bit of diversity, this Absinthe Tasting set is a perfect match for you!

How to serve Absinthe the traditional way:

In the following video you can see how you serve Absinthe the traditional French way. You need an Absinthe glass, an Absinthe spoon, sugar cubes and ice cold water for this traditional ritual. This is how it works: You place the Absinthe spoon on the rim of the glass, put a sugar cube on top and slowly add water. The Absinthe in the glass blends with water and magically louches from green to an opalescent white color. Your glass of Absinthe is prepared, santé and happy tasting!
