Absinthe ALANDIA Rosé

Rosé Absinthe already existed during the Belle Époque in the 19th century. Based on this historical reference Absinthe ALANDIA Rosé was created. True to the original, ALANDIA Rosé gets its natural color from hibiscus flowers. Besides coloration, they round off the herbal and fresh taste of the Absinthe into a floral-soft direction. Served with ice cold water and one sugar cube Absinthe Rosé is extremely smooth and refreshing in taste.

Description

Rosé Absinthe already existed during the Belle Époque in the 19th century in France. A proof is the advertising poster made at that time by the printing house Imprimerie Camis (you can see it in our photo gallery). The light pink color derived from hibiscus flowers. Based on this historical reference Absinthe ALANDIA Rosé was created. As in the past, the Absinthe gets its natural color 100% plant-based from hibiscus flowers. Besides coloration, they round off the herbal and fresh taste of the Absinthe into a floral-fruity direction. Besides the typical fresh taste of the herbs you can detect notes of fresh strawberries and cotton candy. Super delicious! The alcohol content is slightly lower at 60% abv, which is also in line with the historical original.

ALANDIA Rosé owes its color to the hibiscus flower. This is a vegetable dye that fades when exposed to UV rays. That's why we wrap each bottle in paper to protect the contents from sunlight. It is best to always store the Absinthe in a dark place so that it retains its natural color for as long as possible. However, it is inevitable that the initial pink color will change over time to a golden pink (you can see this final color in our product photo). It is important to know that this is a completely natural process. It has no negative influence on the taste of the Absinthe. On the contrary, the storage makes the Absinthe even softer and more balanced in taste, it matures like a good wine.

How to drink Absinthe Rosé:

You should drink ALANDIA Rosé according to the classic French Absinthe ritual. You need an Absinthe glass, an Absinthe spoon, sugar cubes and ice cold water for this original way of drinking Absinthe. You start by filling some Absinthe into the glass (approx. 1 oz). Then place the Absinthe spoon on the rim of the glass, put a sugar cube on top and slowly add water. You can use a water carafe or - even more professional - an Absinthe fountain. The Absinthe in the glass blends with sugared water and magically louches to an opalescent white color with hints of pink. We recommend a ratio of 1 part Absinthe to 2 parts water. Finally stir the Absinthe with the spoon. Your glass of Absinthe Rosé is prepared!

Delicious and smooth Review by Caroline

This is one of the smoothest absinthes i've ever tasted. When opening the bottle it unleased a sweet aroma of flowers mixed with anise. I was astonished by the scent of this 120 proof alcohol. I used one sugar cube and mixed 50/50 with ice water. It was delicous and smooth without the normal spicey kick of traditional verte absinthes. My only regret is that i didn't get more than one. Excellent Rose Review by Jack

I haven't been a big fan of rose or rouge absinthes until now. This is an excellent absinthe where the hibiscus flavor doesn't overpower.. I like it best at a 3:1 ratio with just a bit of sugar.. Well worth trying! (Posted on 9/29/2022)

Smooth taste, milder than regular absinthes. Sugar cube completes the experience. It does louche well. (Posted on 9/29/2022)
Fruity and floral Review by Matthew

This absinthe greatly appreciates age as I like it much better a year after buying it, but the color fades. Which is fine, it indicates the colors are naturally achieved.
Appearance:
Before water - Pétale mort, pale gold straw, opalesces in different light with hues of pale blue, green, and occasionally red returns. I have had this bottle for close to a year now and it's lost its color, which to me isn't a bad thing because it indicates natural coloring ;) It was a very floral, pinkish, red when I received it.
After water - An opalescent, pale, pink white as if the water awakens the hibiscus petals
Aroma:
Before water - Fruit, cream, anise
After water - Strawberry marshmallow and cotton candy, earthy wormwood undertones
Louche:
*Prepared with a dripper and bubble glass* The louche formed beautifully with sunlight behind it as there were long golden, red trails. Vibrant and enticing
Taste:
Fruity and floral, grounded by bitter wormwood. The fruit note is reminiscent of chewy, strawberry cream candies. Sometimes the bitterness goes slightly astringent, but it's not off-putting. The anise comes in at the tip of the tongue, sprinkled with powdered sugar. Numbs the tongue slightly.
Finish:
Hits the back of the tongue with a strong bitterness which quickly subsides into a sweet anise, floral exhale. The anise bite lingers, but leaves your mouth feeling refreshed and minty
Overall:
I would mark it a 3.5, but there is no option for that so I rounded up. There is an astringency that prevents me from rating this a solid 4. I appreciate Alandia Rosé, and think it's a great addition as a dessert absinthe (Posted on 9/29/2022)
