Description

This Absinthe glass is something special as it has a bubble-shaped reservoir in the stem. It is filled with the Green Fairy, then, water is added. The Absinthe begins to mix with the water and louches in the bubble in swirls. The effect is really magical! Bubble glasses already existed in the Belle Époque era, the ALANDIA glass is inspired by these vintage originals. The glass itself is made out of high-quality, hand-blown borosilicate glass. It is dishwasher-safe, but we recommend to wash it by hand.

The Absinthe Bubble Glass drinking ritual:

First you have to fill the bubble with Absinthe. Then slowly add ice cold water. Watch how the Absinthe in the bubble magically louches in white clouds. Depending on your preference you can add a sugar cube and perform the drinking ritual with an Brouilleur as seen in the video (the best preparation). Bubble glasses were made in the late 19th century (1880-1890). But they were never widely popular, and seem to have been discontinued by the early 1900’s. Why? Maybe because of the difficulty in cleaning the bubble, especially when you prepare your Absinthe with sugar. Nowadays, with water pressure from the tap it is easy, but back in the days things looked different...

Spectacular Louche! Review by Absinthist
Rating
This glass is magic, I love the ritual with the louche! Only downturn is that the bubble is not so easy to clean. Therefore do not use sugar with your absinthe. If you like sugared absinthe, take sugar syrup (agave). (Posted on 9/30/2022)
