Are you looking for superior quality Absinthe? Then this Jade Absinthe Set is the right thing for you. It contains the (almost) complete selection of bottles of premium Jade Absinthe (as you can see in our video, there is a fifth Jade Absinthe, Jade Edouard. But this brand has 72% abv and therefore can not be shipped via Airmail, as it is considered a "dangerous" good).
Jade Absinthes are distilled by US Absinthologist Ted Breaux in France, in the Loire valley at the Combier distillery. All his Absinthes are made according to authentic 19th century recipes on historical Pernod Fils stills. The authenticity of Jade Absinthes cannot be surpassed, as they have been re-engineered to a certain extent. This means that old Absinthe bottles were chemically analyzed and reproduced as authentic as possible. You can learn more about Ted Breaux's work further down on this page.
The Jade Absinthe Secletion Set includes one bottle each of Jade Absinthe Verte Suisse (a fresh green Absinthe inspired by green Swiss mountain meadows), Jade 1901 (a typical Frenchman with anise and fennel in the foreground), Jade Nouvelle Orleans (a lighter Absinthe compared to the rest, slightly floral with a focus on anise) and Jade Terminus Oxygénnée (an Absinthe made with oxygen infusion, which gives the spirit an aged character).
The US-American Ted Breaux is the master distiller of the Jade Absinthe line. Almost all Jade Absinthes are authentic reproductions of historical Absinthe brands. You wonder how he reproduces the Absinthe? It's not that trivial, but Ted Breaux is a chemist, which helps him with his reproduction process.
He first gets an old bottle of the Absinthe to be reproduced as a reference. This first step often turns out to be very difficult, because Pre-Ban Absinthes, i.e. Absinthes before the time of the Absinthe ban (1915), are extremely rare and expensive. He then analyzes the composition of the Absinthe in the laboratory. He re-engineered the recipe scientifically, so to speak. Of course, this process is not purely technical. As an Absintheur, Ted also has the necessary passion to give the Absinthe its final touch. The results are quite impressive. Jade Absinthe enjoy a high reputation in the Absinthe community. We ourselves have already drunk Pre-Ban Absinthe and can confirm that Mr. Breaux understands his craft. His Absinthes are very similar to the originals!
In the following video, you can see how you prepare Absinthe the traditional French way. You need an Absinthe glass, an Absinthe spoon, sugar cubes and ice-cold water for this traditional ritual. This is how it works: You place the Absinthe spoon on the rim of the glass, put a sugar cube on top and slowly add water. The Absinthe in the glass blends with water and magically louches from green to an opalescent white color. Santé, your glass of Absinthe is prepared.
