Description

This unique Absinthe set includes one bottle Gothica Absinthe, two skull Absinthe glasses, two stainless steel Absinthe spoons and one bag of wrapped sugar cubes. The Gothica set fascinates by its extraordinary products. Lets take a closer look at them: Gothica Absinthe is a strong Absinthe based on the empowering virtues of the wormwood plant. The coloration of Absinthe Gothica is plant-based, meaning that the green color derives from chlorophyll. Though, it has 66.6% alc. by vol. Gothica has pleasantly sweet notes, which is achieved by adding some rose petals to the recipe. The skull glasses are the perfect match for Gothica Absinthe. They are made of high quality borosolicate glass and hold 80 ml / 2.7 oz, which means they are good for one serving of Absinthe. The stainless steel Gothic Grilles have to be placed above the glass to perform the classic Absinthe ritual. You place a sugar cube on the Grilles and slowly pour ice cold water into the glass. The sugar dissolves and the Absinthe begins to louche to a cloudy-greenish white. We recommend to drink Absinthe Gothica with one part Absinthe, two parts ice-cold water and one sugar cube. But beware, Absinthe Gothica is not for weak minds, drink responsibly!

Why do some Absinthes have a bright green color?

Absinthe traditionally is of green color. That is why we also call the drink the "Green Fairy". But if an Absinthe is very green, you can be sure, that it is artificially colored. You can only achieve a bright green color with artificial coloration. If you use the traditional way of coloration, meaning that you place coloring plants into the final distillate, you will get a dark-green sometimes yellow-green color. Initially, the Absinthe can be quite green, but this color can lose its greenish teint over time. Why? Because sunlight dissolves chlorophyll and therefore as well, the green color can vanish. That is the reason, why many green Absinthes are bottled in dark bottles. If you have a clear glass bottle, like we use for Gothica Absinthe, it is important to store the bottle in a dark place. It should not be placed in direct sunlight. But, and this is important, even if the Absinthe looses its initial green color, its quality is not affected. It is a natural process that actually shows you, that you have bought the natural Green Fairy.
