Collectors Absinthe, what makes them special?

After Absinthe's legalization in 1998 many distilleries started to reproduce the spirit. Often these distilleries were quite small, as the market was (still) not big enough for large companies to be entered. This explains why so many Absinthes were produced in the beginning. But for many distilleries producing an Absinthe was more of an experiment, than real business. Therefore, quite a few brands vanished after some time.
