Description

Rheinbrand is a Swiss Gin, the name refers to the river "Rhine" that has its fountain in Switzerland. On its way to the North Sea, the river flows through France, Germany and the Netherlands. Therefore Rheinbrand Gin is made with unique ingredients from these regions. First of all we have mountain herbs and cherries from Switzerland, France is represented by elderflower blossoms, Netherlands with some sea salt from Rotterdam and Germany with white wine from Alsace (Riesling). The distillate is diluted with fresh water from the rhine spring to achieve its final alcohol level of 40%.

Rheinbrand Gin production and tasting:

Rheinbrand Gin is made according to the London Dry Gin distillation method. This means that all ingredients are distilled together and no further ingredients are added after distillation (no sugar, colorings etc.). Each step is monitored by Ruedi Käser, the owner of the Käser distillery. Adrian Baumgartner supports him with is skills, as a spirits professional he already developed the Ojo de Aqua Dry Gin togehter with Dieter Meier. From the taste, Rheinbrand Dry Gin is dominated by juniper and thyme, it is a herbal Gin that suits well to dry tonic waters. We recommend the sugar-reduced Slim Tonic Water from Thomas Henry. As a garnish a lemon zest fts well.

Rheinbrand Gin, an homage to the river Rhine:

The Rhine (German: Rhein, French: le Rhin, Dutch: Rijn) is a European river that begins in the Swiss canton of Graubünden in the southeastern Swiss Alps, forms part of the Swiss-Liechtenstein, Swiss-Austrian, Swiss-German and then the Franco-German border, then flows through the Rhineland and eventually empties in the North Sea in the Netherlands. The river has a lot of historical meaning, as it was a natural border between countries. The river has as well some funny stories to tell. In 1966 for example, a whale swam its way from the North Sea all the way down to the city of Bonn in Germany. It was a big attraction and people in the region still tell about "Moby Dick".
