Description

The ALANDIA Absinthe water carafe was inspired by similar pieces used in bars and bistros throughout France in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It is very functional in use and beautiful to look at. Water carafes were placed on bistro tables to be used by the customers to prepare their own drink. Particularly important were these carafes in the making of an Absinthe, as ice-cold water is needed for the traditional Absinthe ritual. Besides their functional use of holding water, Absinthe water carafes were also popular promotional and marketing tools used mostly by alcohol manufacturers. The ALANDIA carafe steps into these historical footprints.

Absinthe Carafe: Quality & Functionality

With its mouth-blown, and handmade design, this Absinthe carafe sets as well the standard in terms of quality. Furthermore, its well-thought-out details make it very functional in use: The diameter of its mouth is large enough to fill in ice cubes. This is essential, as ice-cold water produces the best louche effect. Furthermore, the carafe has a pouring spout that ensures a perfectly slow pour of water for the Absinthe ritual. Thereby, you do not spill water and the sugar cube dissolves particularly well due to the fine water stream.

Absinthe Carafes and the making of an Absinthe:

Dripping water by a carafe was the most common method of adding water to the Absinthe during the 19th and early 20th century. The correct technique is to slowly, continuously drip the water onto the sugar cube until it has completely dissolved from the spoon, and fallen into the glass of Absinthe. You can also use an Absinthe fountain to prepare your glass of Absinthe, but a water carafe is much easier to use. We recommend using an Absinthe fountain for the special moments, an Absinthe water carafe is the choice for everyday needs.

This carafe is highly functional. It's big enough (holds 16.9 oz), but from the photos I expected it to be a bit bigger. (Posted on 9/29/2022)
