We all know the movie The Beauty and the Beast. Today we have not two different persons, but rather one drink, which can be characterised with both words. The Green Beast is not only a yummy Absinthe cocktail, especially for rookies in the Absinthe community, but also a very beautiful one. The light green color can easily cheer you up on those rainy summer days that many of us hate.
Green Beast: Background information
As I have mentioned before, the Green Beast is a great cocktail to introduce someone to Absinthe. This is due to the fact that you use lime juice and cucumber for this cocktail, which balances out the taste of anise and fennel. The cocktail is as well sweetened, what appeals to people being new to the world of Absinthe. Besides that it is a great summer refresher, as well, as you will see by having a look at the ingredients. The drink is as well the perfect cocktail to prepare for a party or a nice evening with friends. It actually is a punch, so it is easier to prepare a whole bowl instead of just a glass. And let us be honest here: It’s also more fun to drink with company ;).
Green Beast: The Recipe
We assume that you want to prepare your drink for a party, so what you need, of course, is a large punch bowl. It should be made of glass, to actually see all of the ingredients of the cocktail. Furthermore, you need the following:
- 5 oz of Absinthe (we recommend Absinthe La Bleue)
- 5 oz of fresh lime juice
- 5 oz of simple sirup (1:1 water and sugar)
- 30 oz of chilled water
- Fresh cucumber slices (one cucumber)
- XXL ice cubes (large ice cubes delay the melting process, but still keep the cocktail nice and chilled)
You can actually just add all the ingredients in the order as stated above. Just mix everything, add the ice cubes and let it rest for 10-15 minutes. Serve in a large glass (for example a gin tonic glass) with ice and decorate with a mint leaf. Enjoy the beast!
Until next time & much love,
