Description
Comas is a vintage Absinthe from the former Spanish Absinthe distillery Noguera Comas located in Barcelona. The bottle is approximately from the 1970's. The distillery does not exist anymore, but produced until 1980 various liquors. The bottle still has its original sealings including the Spanish tax seal indicating the tax value in pesetas. Despite the label showing the number "68", the percentage of alcohol is 60. Some Spanish distillers did this, as 68 was the classic alcohol level of French Absinthes, nevertheless a higher percentage made the Absinthe more expensive because of the alcohol tax. They were assuming not so many people would actually find out about this misrepresentation. A good example of historical telling and selling marketing.
The filling level of the bottle is unfortunately at approx. 60%, despite its original sealing. As the bottle has a crewneck seal some alcohol vanished over time (the Green Fairy share). The original filling volume of the bottle is 33.8 oz (1 liter), therefore approx. 20 oz (500-600 ml) are still inside the bottle. Enough for 20-30 glasses of Absinthe.
