- Absinthiades 2006 - |
|
|
On 01.10.2006 the sixth Absinthiades took place. We participated this year once again in the degustation jury, so instead of some Beer with Paris Hilton on the Oktoberfest we chased to the Green Fairy in Pontarlier! Out of 20 different brands the best Absinthe should be awarded in a blind test. Some minor changes in the weighting of the tested characteristics were made this year. The coloring was considered less important with a max. of 4 points, smell had a weight of max. 6 points and taste a max. of 10 points. Like last year there were two juries, each one sampled 10 Absinthes and rewarded them with the golden, silver and bronze Absinthe spoon. Therefore there were two gold medal winners. Every year the results are anticipated with curiosity, as the French, the Suisse and the international Absintheurs, who all participate in the jury, have different taste expectations of "the best Absinthe". Therefore the awards shouldn´t be taken too serious, but anyway, there is a nice tendency to see. Absintheurs really like our FrancoSuisse and Partisane Absinthe! This year they were once again awarded with a golden and bronze Absinthe spoon. Here are the pics and results from this years Absinthiades 2006. Jury 1 : 1st Blanchette 60%, 2nd Versinthe La Blanche 57%, 3rd Un Emile 45% Jury 2 : 1st Clandestine FrancoSuisse 55%, 2nd Francois Guy 45%, 3rd Partisane 65%.
No Beer with Paris, Absinthe with the Green Fairy was on the schedule!
The Absinthiades 2006
After some hours of driving we headed to the Theater of Pontarlier where the degustation took place.
Tables were set and everything was prepared for the judging.
And one Absintheur already awaited with a self confident smile the tasting to begin...
The Absinthes were served...
...and meanwhile the collectors exposed their collections.
These grippers were used back in the days to cut the sugar.
Green Fairies
After all Absinthes were rated the results were announced.
And some Absinthe Cookies later it was once again time to hit the road...
Good bye Pontarlier and till the next year!
...and 2006
