Ojo de Agua is an exceptional Gin. On the one hand, because it is created by the Swiss musician Dieter Meier (Yello), on the other hand because of its Argentinian influences. Although it is distilled in Switzerland, typical Argentinian botanicals are used for distillation. For example lemons from the Argentinian city Tucumán and yerba mate, the ingredient for Argentina´s national drink "Mate Tea". Besides these unique ingredients juniper, coriander, lemon peel, orange peel, angelica root, rosemary, lavender and a few other additional botanicals are used. For maceration a special alcohol base is created: Grain neutral spirit which is enhanced with 15% brandy distilled from Meiers own Malbec wine called "Puro". The maceration is done for one day, then the spirit gets three times distilled. Before the final bottling, the Gin is infused with a wonderful eau-de-vie made of organic blackberries from Meiers' Ojo de Agua Farm. In the end a powerful, spirited Gin is created. Yerba mate gives Ojo de Agua a slight bitterness that harmonizes well with the earthy tones of juniper. The citric aromas of the lemons go well with the Mediterranean notes of rosemary and lavender. Overall this Gin is really something special. We recommend to drink Ojo de Agua with Gents Tonic, because the citric notes of the Gin are underlined by the citric taste of this Tonic Water and the sweetness of the filler sets free the full aromatic power of this passionate Gin.
