Verbena, the mystical botanical from the Medieval Times:
Verbena (lat. verbena officinalis) is a perennial herb native to Europe. It grows up to a height of 1 metre. The plant has been held in high esteem since the Medieval Times and has long been associated with divine and other supernatural forces. Hence, the herb was used in cultural ceremonies to decorate the altar for sacrificies. Additionally, folk legend states that verbena was used to stanch Jesus' wounds after his removal from the cross. In the Modern Era, verbena is sometimes considered a powerful ally of poets and writers, as its relaxing effects can relieve writer's block. In modern medicine the herb is primarily consumed as a tea treating a common cold.
