Description

Like our premium Absinthe Maison ALANDIA, Absinthe Époque was developed in cooperation with the international known Absinthe connaisseur "deep forest". The task for this Absinthe was to create a complex but balanced Absinthe. Smooth and without any bitterness resulting in a very dignified Absinthe impression. An Absinthe for the finer moments in live. Its name refers to the Belle Époque, "the beautiful era", signifying a period in Europe's history that began during the late 19th century and lasted until 1914. It is considered the golden time of beauty, peace and entertainment. Cabaret, the famous cancan, and cinema were born and often enjoyed with a glass of Absinthe. In reference to this fabled era, Absinthe Époque is distilled after a classic composition of 12 herbs, including wormwood, green anise, fennel, vanilla and calamus. In the glass, Absinthe Époque fascinates with its natural golden-green color. When water is added, the room is immediately perfumated. This sensational experience is accompanied by an intense and creamy louche inside the Absinthe glass. Once sipped, it all starts with a fresh and sweet aroma of fennel, followed by a powerful wormwood bouquet, ending in subtle notes of vanilla and calamus ensnaring your tongue. Overall, this Absinthe is a wonderful sensual experience, we love it.

The Absinthe tradition of the Eichelberger Family:

A great-grandfather of the Eichelberger family, Eduard Heinrich Nötzel, lived from 1800 to 1874 in Danzig. He assumed ownership of the wood wholesale trade business of his father but expanded the business very soon. An advertisement in an old newspaper shows, that he started to offer different spirits and essences, including an „Extracte d'Absinthe“. In his tavern "Zum Elefanten" ("To the Elephant") his specialties were offered. His son, Otto Luis Nötzel, continued the flourishing business. Unfortunately he died young and his son was too young to manage the company. Therefore the business was shut down around 1900. Due to the two world wars the history of the family heritage was almost forgotten. Until in 1997, when the Wild family started again with the production of Absinthe in the Eichelberger distillery.

Mild and SMOOTH! Review by Primero
Rating
Absolutley AWESOME. This absinthe is VERY mild and SMOOTH. You can't even tell there is any alcohol in it, which is a real achievement considering it is 140 proof. And yet it has all the "Effects" one could possibly want. I have tired over 15 different brands and can honestly say this is my favorite. It has it all - great taste, great louche, and a wonderful buzz. Give it a try, it's worth the price! (Posted on 12/16/2022)

In my opinion, this is a really nice absinthe with a beautiful aroma. The flavor reminds me of Eichelberger Limitee 68, just with a little less body. I had a few problems with the cork, but once it came out and I poured my first glass it was entirely worth it. Epoque has a great louche which gives it a nice aesthetic appeal and makes the wait as pleasing as the taste. (Posted on 12/16/2022)
in line with Jade's Review by Steven

Brilliant. Right up there with the Jade's, as far as I'm concerned. I was prepared to love this but wanted to critique it without the anticipation of getting my hands on the forbidden fruit of a true absinthe, now legal. Cracking the seal pretty much killed this notion. (Posted on 12/16/2022)

My newest bottle; a follow up to the House Alandia I enjoyed. This is a very nice bottle and almost as good as the House Alandia. Still, a very nice taste and recommended. (Posted on 9/30/2022)
lemony bouquet Review by Taste-e-crazee

I read that it's made by Eichelberger. Same lemony bouquet. Delicious. Get your corkscrew out. You'll need it. The cork in this thing is a log lol. Worth every effort. (Posted on 9/29/2022)
