This Absinthe is undiluted, it comes into the bottle straight from the alembic. Therefore the alcohol level is at an high 83.2% by volume. For the recipe a lot of artemisia pontica is used. This makes this Absinthe herbal from its taste. The louche is very, very thick, due to the high alcohol level. We can highly recommend this Absinthe, if you like intense Absinthes. The recipe was developed at the Eichelberger Absinthe festival taking place in the year 2007, that´s why this Absinthe has the name "Festival Edition".
Eichelberger - Absinthe distillation with tradition:
A great-grandfather of the Eichelberger family, Eduard Heinrich Nötzel, lived from 1800 to 1874 in Danzig. He assumed ownership of the wood wholesale trade business of his father but expanded the business very soon. An advertisement in an old newspaper shows, that he started to offer different spirits and essences, including an „Extracte d`Absinthe“. In his tavern "Zum Elefanten" ("To the Elephant") his specialties were offered. His son, Otto Luis Nötzel, continued the flourishing business. Unfortunately he died young and his son was too young to manage the company. Therefore the business was shut down around 1900. Due to the two world wars the history of the family heritage was almost forgotten. Until in 1997 the Wild family started again with the production of Absinthe in the Eichelberger distillery!

I personally prefer the original Eich\' 80 Brute with its even cleaner taste, but 83.2 is a wonderful version on its own right.
The louche is thick as the London fog, but as clean as a swizz mountain lake. I. love. it.
If you want an absinthe, with a full body, a fulfilling smell and a smooth finish, get this one. It\'s worth every drop.
To elaborate on the flavors; There is a fabulous woody, floral experience on the palate! There are the flavors of Melissa, lemon, mild cedar, wormwood and a delicious (almost funky) fresh chlorophyll, fresh herb flavor! totally magnificent! Of the 15 various Absinthe's I have tried this is the best to date! You need to keep a bottle of this on your Absinthe bar! It is worth every cent (or Euro, as the case may be) you pay for this!
