Absinthe Review: Absinthe Segarra 45
Absintheur: Ben Rabenold 10.01.2005
Review:
A true departure from the flavor of any other absinthe I have tasted. I had heard this absinthe was sweeter than most others, which I found dead opposite. This was *very* bitter to my taste. The brandy flavor was present, as expected, but forget about the supposed confection. I had read somewhere in a review from another site that the reviewer had purchased his bottle of Segarra from a man with extremely bad breath. I can understand this, as I'm sure the man the reviewer purchased his bottle from was assuredly drinking this sometime earlier. Nevertheless, the drink grew on me. I grew a taste for it & its unique flavor. In terms of secondaries, not a great deal to report of in the beginning. However, near the bottom third of the bottle, I began to notice *significant* secondaries from Segarra -- another suprise, as I had heard there really weren't any to be felt from this brand. This absinthe was an education. Make up your mind for yourself before listening to anyone else's opinion. I would buy this again.
