No longer available: The name Barrique is normally synonymous with the wine industry, and means that the product matures for several months in oak barrels, so that the final product acquires a toasted and smokey taste. This method is applied to this Absinthe. The Absinthe itself is a typical Suisse La Bleue of the finest quality, but the outcome after maturation is a totally different experience. Absinthe Barrique is a delicacy and stands out when compared to normal Absinthe. It has to be drank neat, served like Cognac in a wider diameter glass to open up the aromatics. When combined with oxygen the full flavor develops, which gives Absinthe Barrique its characteristic note. Sit back, relax and enjoy this delightful experience.

May I suggest using small stone cubes, Instead of Ice cubes? You take the stone cubes into the frige and wait for about an hour or so, then you take them out at a temprature of about -10 degrees celcious. Not only will they keep your drink colder for a much longer time, but they will also not melt, thus not making your drink watery + the stones can be reused as mamy times as you want, just rinse them and dry them before putting them back into the frige. I gave it 5 stars, as I didn't want to ruin the total score

This is a truly fine Absinthe, perhaps one of the best I have sampled. The woody, smokey flavour is absolutely sublime and the drink should be taken neat or over ice - the normal rituals are not necessary. Sipping it from a pipe with crushed ice is even better. Bear in mind, you are paying premium price for a 0.2 litre bottle, but it is worth trying at least once. You will enjoy it.

very good absinthe, smoky, spicy, with a smooth finish. i would recommend this to anyone who would likes congac, or a nice single-malt. i've only tried it neat, but after reading some of the reviews i'm gonna give it a try with the classic ritual.

Excellent! I was a little leary of drinking it neat as the description says, as I do not drink absinthe straight, so I tried it in the traditional way with a sugar cube and water. It was very, very good! Then I decided to give it a try neat. As the ad states, it has a woody, smokey flavor that really IS best neat over ice and sipped. It does remind me of a very fine cognac. This really is a gourmet absinthe for those of you who want to sample something different and superb!!!!!
