Absinthe saucers were the traditional way of serving an Absinthe in the bistros of 19th century Paris. Besides being beautiful, they are functional as well: You can place your (wet) Absinthe spoon on them after you have performed the Absinthe ritual. All saucers have a small golden rim as well (see photo).
