Description

This scary Absinthe set includes one bottle Hamlet Classic Absinthe, two skull Absinthe glasses, two Absinthe Grilles Grid and one bag of wrapped sugar cubes. The Skull set fascinates by its outstanding design. But lets have a closer look at the included products: Hamlet Absinthe is a strong Absinthe based on the empowering virtues of the wormwood plant. The coloration of Absinthe Hamlet Classic Green is all natural, meaning that its green color is exclusively derived from plants (chlorophyll). Though it has 69% alc. by vol. Hamlet Classic has pleasantly sweet notes, which is achieved by adding a bit of cinnamon and vanilla to the recipe. The skull glasses are the perfect math for Hamlet Absinthe. They are made of high quality borosolicate glass and hold 80 ml / 2.7 oz, which means they are good for one serving of Absinthe. The stainless steel Gothic Grilles have to be placed above the glass to perform the classic Absinthe ritual. You place a sugar cube on the Grilles and slowly pour ice cold water into the glass. The sugar dissolves and the Absinthe begins to louche to a cloudy-greenish white. We recommend to drink Absinthe Hamlet Classic Green with one part Absinthe, two parts ice cold water and one sugar cube. Enjoy!

Why do some Absinthes have a bright green color?

Absinthe traditionally is of green color. That is why we also call the drink the "Green Fairy". But if an Absinthe is very green, you can be sure, that it is artificially colored. You can only achieve a bright green color with artificial coloration. If you use the traditional way of coloration, meaning that you place coloring plants into the final distillate, you will get a dark-green sometimes yellow-green color. Initially, the Absinthe can be quite green, but this color can loose its greenish teint over time. Why? Because sunlight dissolves chlorophyl and therefore as well the green color can vanish. That is the reason, why many green Absinthes are bottled in dark bottles. If you have a clear glass bottle, like we use for Hamlet Classic Green Absinthe, it is important to store the bottle in a dark place. It should not be placed in direct sunlight. But, and this is important, even if the Absinthe looses its initial green color, its quality is not affected. It is a natural process that actually shows you, that you have bought the traditional, classic Green Fairy.

The skull glasses are made of borosilicate glass, not plastic. Normally the glasses are very durable, borosilicate glass allows high maximum temperatures of typically about 500 °C. The temperature differential that borosilicate glass can withstand before fracturing is about 165 °C (329 °F). This compares well with regular glass, which can withstand only a 37 °C (99 °F) change in temperature. Why your glasses did not survive the dishwasher is strange. Just email us and we will replace them, all the best, ALANDIA.
