There are different Absinthe Rituals. Which ine do you prefer and do you have some recommendations to perform the Absinthe ritual to perfection..?

I like the bohemian ritual for presentation, but I agree that the caramelization of the sugar negatively affects the taste of the absinthe. This is what I do…I light up the sugar cube and then after 10-15 seconds I blow out the flame and pour the water over the sugar. The sugar doesn’t caramelize and I’ve given my guests the WOW factor.

!`m totaly devoted to the slow drip of ice water from a fountain.. watching the evolving of the louche…mmm. For me lighting up the sugar cube..aka the bohemian ritual ..is like raping Absinthe…but that`s me. What`s important is that people might enjoy their Absinthe the way they prefer ! Cheers !

I follow the French style of slowly dripping ice water onto the sugar cube & watching the louche develop. I believe that “friends don’t let friends burn absinthe” regarding the bohemian method. There’s just something invariably dangerous about having an open flame near such a possibly high concentration of alcohol – not to mention the ruined flavor profile. If you want to “dazzle people,” why not instead dazzle them with your knowledge of such a fine beverage, dispel the myths, and help to educate them so they may also join the ranks of fellow absinthe enthusiasts.

First of; Thumps up for Tygress75 for those well said statements!
Then to the Absinthe! My ritual depends on wether I’m drinking Versinthe or Absinthe, for me there’s a huge difference. When it comes to Versinthe I like to use the French ritual; oldschool and nothing fancy. But as it comes to the Absinthe, which is danish, you can read the review of it and Absinthe lollipops in the danish group, I like to mix it with a cold shot of Thujon 35, followed by the french ritual, the adding of the Thujon gives a stronger effect and more herbal taste.
Both beverages are follewed by a room only lit up by candel lights and some Norah Jones/Owl City tunes on the Hi-fi. NOTHING makes me relax more then this.
